Description
A meme about the mind-boggling life-appearance of Deinocheirus mirificus, which has been known for nearly half a century mainly by a pair of huge arms. Since much more complete fossils were found, the life appearance of the mysterious giant turned out to be even weirder than ever imagined, with a bizarre spatula-like beak and weird elongated dorsal spines.
Inspired by the wonderful life-reconstruction by John Conway (at johnconway.co: johnconway.co/deinocheirus-mir… and a quick sketch by Brad McFeeters I made this meme about Deinocheirus and its weird humpback. I linked it to the artwork from "The little Prince" (1943) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, in which the drawing of an elephant eaten by a snake plays an important role. See de Saint-Exupéry´s original work here: blogs.scientificamerican.com/l…
I used watercolours and a pencil and modified it slightly with GIMP and Paint to get a similar style as the original elephant in a snake.
